WASHINGTON (Circa) - Russian state television may have edited an image of North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, according to a report by BuzzFeed News.
According to the report, the image aired during a Sunday news program where the meeting between the two was detailed. The host of the program explained that Un called the Russians "wonderful friends" and sent Russian President Vladimir Putin a "warm hello."
However, the image currently displayed on The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federations website depicts North Korea's leader with a more serious demeanor.
The image shows both men shaking hands in front of a mural of the ocean. But on Russian state television, the image has a more orange hue and the corners of Un's mouth look turned up in a grin.
The host of the program, Dmitry Kiselyov, in an interview with a radio station stated the images were not doctored but shot using a high burst mode on the camera, according to the BuzzFeed report.
Other images shot by members of the press captured Kim Jong Un smiling at other times throughout the meeting with Lavrov, just not in the image aired by Russian state television.
