WASHINGTON (Circa)- It's almost the summer season and theme parks around the country are opening there doors for kids and kids at heart to enjoy. Besides all the beloved attractions that you know and love, 2018 is bring some brand new thrills all over the USA. Here are just a few new rides that are coming your way.
Six Flags Great Adventure & Safari in Jackson, New Jersey, opens Cyborg Cyber Spin, an anti-gravity gondola ride. The ride has flips and pivots at heights up to seven stories and Floorless seats that leave riders’ feet
One of the most anticipated new theme areas in 2018 is Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World opening June 30th. The main attraction of the new land is Slinky Dog Dash, a brand new family-friendly coaster where you are transformed to toy size where you can tag along with Slinky Dog.
Hersheypark has two new thrill attractions at The Boardwalk At Hersheypark water park: Breakers Edge Water Coaster and Whitecap Racer.
Breakers Edge Water Coaster at Hersheypark is the world’s first hydromagnetic water coaster with flying turns to smoothly rocket riders through splash-filled hills and sweet thrills that are perfect for the whole family. The four-person inline raft gives guests a bobsled ride feeling as gravity drops and smooth linear induction motors power guests up and down hills and turns. This water coaster has an estimated hourly ride capacity of 600 guests and a ride time of about one minute.
Joining Breakers Edge Water Coaster is Whitecap Racer, the world’s longest mat racer and takes guests 70 feet high as they race to the finish in six side-by-side tunnels to the bottom. Each rider speeds through two tight 360-degree loops, while open racing lanes with low separator lanes allow racers to see and hear each other as they challenge each other using a slider timing system.
One of the most popular theme parks for the roller coaster junkie, Cedar Point now has Steel Vengeance for 2018. Steel Vengeance already has broken 5 world records such as world’s tallest and fastest hybrid roller coaster and worlds steepest drop.
Known as America's 1st theme park, Knotts Berry Farm has a new coaster to add thrills to its historic charm.
HangTime is a surfing themed roller coaster sends guests up a 150-foot vertical lift hill before coming to a halt once the highest peak is reached, leaving riders suspended at the crest for several seconds at a 60-degree angle. Then the train suddenly descends into a beyond-vertical drop, through 2,189 feet of steel track and five gravity-defying inversions.
Wood and steel intertwine into twisting barrel roll drops, dynamic inversions and gravity-defying weightlessness on Kings Dominion’s newest coaster, Twisted Timbers.
Twisted Timbers is an innovative hybrid coaster that uses the latest technology to combine wood supports with a steel track to give riders an exhilarating experience with maneuvers previously unimaginable on a traditional wooden coaster. The coaster is designed by Rocky Mountain Construction of Idaho, a company renowned for reimagining wooden coasters. Reaching a top speed of 54 miles per hour, it features 3,351 feet of track, a 109-foot-tall barrel roll drop, three loops and 20 airtime moments.
