Stressed out students create 'Cry Closet' for finals

SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV)-- An art exhibit on the University of Utah’s campus is stirring up quite a buzz.

“The Cry Closet” went up in the Marriott Library on Sunday. The exhibit was created by Nemo Miller, an art student on campus. A sign on the closet door invites stressed out students in for a quick 10-minute cry session. The closet is equipped with fuzzy stuffed animals to comfort students as they prepare to take their finals.

“It’s an intense week,” Jana Cunningham, Communications Specialist at University of Utah said.

“You can take about 10 minutes just to decompress. Just let it all out, let yourself get away from your studies for the next 10 minutes and then come on out and hopefully you feel just a little bit better and you can get back to your homework,” Cunningham said.

The new exhibit has students talking. Many posted photos of the closet to Facebook and Twitter.

“I thought I had to come out and check it out,” student Sam Haertel said.

Some students poked fun at the exhibit, while others thought it was a great resource during finals week.

“It’s awesome! I think one of these should be everywhere all the time,” student Jayde Allison said.

“Just its name, ‘The Cry Closet’ is a little funny because definitely finals is a time to cry and panic,” Allison added.

The “Cry Closet” will stay up in the library through finals week.
