NEW YORK (Circa) - Circa caught up with the cast of "Sweetbitter," a new series based on the best-selling novel by author Stephanie Danler, at Tribeca Film Festival in New York.
"Sweetbitter" is about a young woman named Tess (Ella Purnell) who travels to New York in pursuit of a new life. The 22-year-old finds herself working as a waitress at one of the most popular restaurants in the city.
Extras and cast members of the show, starring Evan Jonigkeit, Eden Epstein, Caitlin FitzGerald, Tom Sturridge, Daniyar, Paul Sparks and Jasmine Matthews, got trained to be like the "real" restaurant staffers they depict on TV. "We broke a lot of wine keys in the first couple of days," FitzGerald said in an interview with Circa.
The stars told us what it was like working a first big job, like Tess, and what wine audiences should pair with the first episode.
"Rosé would be appropriate considering the pink that we're dealing with, but definitely some champagne to start," Danler said. Purnell, on the other hand, suggests her personal favorite: white wine.
"Sweetbitter" premieres Sunday, May 6 on STARZ.
