WASHINGTON (WJLA) - Police in New York City are on high alert Friday morning after the MS-13 gang ordered members to "take out a cop," the New York Post has learned in a new New York Police Department memo they obtained.
According to the Post, the memo states the Salvadoran gang ordered the hit after a crack down in arrests in the Hempstead area - a Long Island town. But a police source clarified, all cops need to be vigilant, not just those on Long Island.
“The police have been making too many arrests and it’s time to take the streets back and take out (shoot) a cop like we do in El Salvador,” the memo obtained by the Post quotes the suspect saying, according to an informant.
Police believe the hit was put out by a gang member that they described as an Hispanic man with a thin build and a tattoo of three dots next to his eye.
