Protesters to demand 'no war against Syria' from Trump at White House

Protesters on Saturday are planning a "March on the White House" demanding "No War Against Syria!" from President Trump, according to a Facebook page about the demonstration.

"People from all over the country are demonstrating Saturday, April 14 to say 'No!' to a new war in the Middle East," the event's page says. "No war against Syria!"

"Even before chemical weapons inspectors were allowed in to investigate, the Trump White House promised a massive military campaign against Syria and its people," the description adds.

"We have to stand up and speak out just as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. did 50 years ago when he links the movement for civil rights with the struggle against a US imperial war in Vietnam and Southeast Asia."

Saturday's planned demonstration follows U.S.-led airstrikes in Syria the day before aimed at punishing Syrian leader Bashar Assad's government for allegedly using chemical weapons on civilians.
