Can you guess the dirtiest and cleanest fruits and vegetables?

WASHINGTON (Circa) -- A new list from the Environmental Working Group has found strawberries as the dirtiest fruit of 2018.

The group revealed this as they released a list of the produce with the most pesticide contamination. Spinach, nectarines, apples and grapes were also on the list.

At least one third of all strawberry samples used in this study contained 10 or more pesticide residues and "breakdown product." Spinach had almost twice as much pesticide as any other crop that was studied for this list.

The year's cleanest produce included avocados, sweet corn and pineapples. The group listed these fruits and vegetables as the most pesticide free.

The Environmental Working Group says there wasn't a single fruit sample from the cleanest fruits and vegetables list that tested positive for more than four pesticides.

“It is vitally important that everyone eats plenty of produce, but it is also wise to avoid dietary exposure to toxic pesticides, from conception through childhood,” Sonya Lunder, senior analyst with EWG, said in a press release. “With EWG’s guide, consumers can fill their fridges and fruit bowls with plenty of healthy conventional and organic produce that isn’t contaminated with multiple pesticide residues.”
