Sweden, N.Y. (WHAM) -A woman was arrested and charged with second degree murder in Sweden, New York after police say she decapitated a boy in a home Thursday night.
Court paperwork states that 36-year-old Hanane Mouhib was arrested and charged in the murder of 7-year-old Abraham Cardenas.
Monroe County Sheriff's deputies says Cardenas' body was found dead at a home in Sweden Thursday night. According to court paperwork, Mouhib used "a large-bladed kitchen knife to intentionally stab [the boy] in the upper-left area of the back." She then allegedly cut the boy's neck, severing his head from his body.
Mouhib was arraigned in Sweden Town Court and remanded to the Monroe County Jail without bail.
According to Monroe County Sheriff Todd Baxter, authorities were called to the home around 8:15 p.m. Thursday night for the report of a suicidal female with a knife. At the scene, investigators discovered an individual they described as an "adolescent male," 10 years of age or younger dead at the scene, with trauma to his body.
Sheriff Baxter said several people who were in the home at the time were secured. He said everyone in the home knew one another, and this appears to be an isolated incident. He confirmed there were other children home at the time.
Baxter said there did not appear to be signs of a fight in the home.
The sheriff said detectives will be looking into whether there were past calls to police from the home, however he said at least one was known; that call reportedly took place in March.
Officials at Rochester Regional Health System (RRHS) said Mouhib worked at one of its facilities from January 2016 – January 2017. She has not been affiliated or credentialed with RRHS since January 2017.
