Josh Elkin discusses Kathy Griffin's return to television and where the line is

Anthony Atamanuik "The President Show" has been an all important and deeply weird reflection on the White House that tends to take a much more grotesque viewpoint of the presidency than other late night comedians would ever dare. Amongst the elements that have made the show as challenging and daring as it has been is the incredible casting -- and this week they have outdone themselves when they have cast Kathy Griffin as Kelly Anne Conway. When we last saw Kathy Griffin in real life, the comedian's career was in shambles following a protest photo where she was seen holding a prop resembling Donald Trump's severed head. This lost her the CNN New Year's Eve special, amongst a variety of other opportunities, but now clearly she is back! Here to discuss her triumphant return are our hosts -- Shira Lazar, Ryan Mitchell, and our special guest Josh Elkin.

Josh is a YouTuber, a chef, and his new series Story Thyme can be watched now. So what did this trio have to say about the triumphant return of Kathy Griffin to the airwaves? Shira loved it, and wondered if Kathy Griffin will be on SNL soon. Josh mentions that it's confusing where the line is in comedy -- implying that Kathy Griffin could not predict where the line was. Ryan calls bullshit on the entire outrage. Why does Kathy Griffin's career hit this speed bump over Trump, but the horrifying offensive racist imagery over Barack Obama does not get people dinged. Ryan sees a double standard concerning how the media is outraged over the Donald Trump head, and much less so over offensive imagery of our 44th president.
