'Homeward Bound:' This cat reunites with owner after a hurricane forced their separation 14 years ago

FORT PIERCE, Florida (WKRC) - A cat that disappeared during Hurricane Jeanne in 2004 has been reunited with its owner 14 years later, according to WPTV.

Thomas Jr., also known as T2, was separated from his owner Perry Martin after Hurricane Jeanne hit Florida in 2004. The two went to stay with one of Martin's friends following the storm and T2 ran away.

Perry had microchipped T2 but for years there was no sign of the orange tabby. Martin assumed he had died and eventually moved to Ohio.

After moving back to Fort Pierce, Florida, Martin received an unexpected phone call in early March when the humane society called him to say T2 had been found by an animal control officer.

“I just went on about my life,” he said after the reunion. “I guess T2 did, too, because who would have thought that after 14 years, you’d find your lost cat?”
