FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — "If I had a bigger word for 'thank you', I would say it," cub scout Andrew Ramirez said.
Ramirez was honored with the highest award in Cub Scouts for saving the life of another.
Ramirez gave his 7-year-old desk partner, Makayle Annis, the Heimlich maneuver and saved her from choking on a gummy bear. They were having a Valentine's Day school party when she started laughing and choking on the candy.
On Monday, Ramirez was awarded the Heroism Award for his heroic actions.
Ramirez's dad is an emergency room doctor and his mom is a pediatrician. His parents couldn't believe their son knew the move and performed it perfectly.
