TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — A Tulsa man has been arrested on a first-degree murder complaint in the death of his girlfriend.
The Tulsa Police Department says 30-year-old Jermico Willis allegedly shot and killed his girlfriend Iesha Wallace, 25, Saturday afternoon.
Officers received a call in regards to a shooting at an apartment near East 71st Street and South Yale Ave just after 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
Willis first told officers that Wallace had shot herself. She was found dead inside the apartment when emergency crews arrived.
Police say the scene inside the apartment conflicted with what Willis claimed and there were too many inconsistencies presented to them at the scene.
Officers did recover a handgun from the apartment and they say Willis had been released from federal custody in Feb. of 2017.
Homicide detectives interviewed Willis and arrested him Saturday on a complaint of a felon in possession of a firearm.
After the autopsy report was completed by the Medical Examiner’s Office on Sunday, police say they now have enough evidence for a charge of first-degree murder.
TPD says they're continuing the investigation and asking anyone to contact them via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or call Crime Stoppers at 918 596 2677 or the Homicide Tip line at 918 798 8477 with any information relating to this case.
This is the 7th homicide in Tulsa for 2018.
