It's words no millennial thought we'd ever have to hear in our lifetime: "Toys 'R' Us is shutting down."
The closures were part of the company's reorganization plans, but the world would soon learn it was just the beginning.
After reports came out that Toys "R" Us would be closing for good, big kids from around the world took to social media to mourn the loss of their favorite childhood store.
Most people are having a pretty hard time accepting that we'll one day have to explain to our kids what Toys "R" Us was, which, like, where does one even start!?
one day i will have to explain to my kids what Toys R Us was.. and that’s where it hurts— Shafeeq (@Y2SHAF) March 15, 2018
But if we gotta start somewhere... one guy likened the giant toy store to a Target that only sells toys.
It's going to be so weird trying to explain Toys 'R Us to future generations.— Greg Wyshynski (@wyshynski) March 14, 2018
"Hey, you know those six aisles at Target you spend all your time in? Well, imagine if they were an entire store..."
(Assuming, like, future generations have Target.) https://t.co/DYQWJJX4p1
Some noted it's not just the iconic store we're losing... who could forget about Geoffrey the Giraffe, the store's longtime mascot.
R.I.P Toys-R-Us. Gonna miss the fun times. Pouring a Capri Sun out for Geoffrey— Will Silver (@Willcartoons) March 14, 2018
I snagged a selfie with Geoffrey at the Toys "R" Us in Times Square in New York, which, if you couldn't already tell, was a very emotional moment.
