Trump administration denies reports of Gen. McMaster's dismissal

WASHINGTON (Sinclair Broadcast Group) -- White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders has denied President Trump will be dismissing Gen. H.R. McMaster from his position in the White House.

"Just spoke to @POTUS and Gen. H.R. McMaster - contrary to reports they have a good working relationship and there are no changes at the NSC," Sanders wrote in a tweet posted late Thursday night.

The Washington Post originally reported that Trump decided to remove the General and was actively looking for a replacement.

Rumors about McMaster's departure have been in the headlines since February. The Post reports McMaster's dismissal has been delayed because Trump wants to find a soft landing spot for McMaster after he departs.

The Trump administration wants McMaster to be an example of someone who can still serve without suffering a blow to their reputation.

This news comes after Trump fired secretary of state Rex Tillerson as well as Gary Cohn and Hope Hicks' respective resignations.
