As the dating game continues to evolve, people are becoming more and more confused on the rules. Should the guy pay for the first date? Should they go dutch? Can a woman ask a man out?
Well there's a new question currently on the horizon: Can you use a Groupon on the first date?
The topic has been trending on social media and has been the topic on a few radio shows. Even the experts at E-Harmony have an opinion.
"First date: No coupons. No gift cards. No Groupon two-for-one deal. If you take any of our relationship advice in the first place, you won’t be at an elaborate or expensive steak house anyways, which can tend to up the “uncomfortable” factor," according to an article on their website. " The focus shouldn’t be on how much you will have to spend but really getting to know this possible love connection. The consensus is that many people do think it’s tacky."
Despite the old school advice from the love experts, there has been a raging debate on social media.
I laughed when I saw people on here judging people using Groupon for dates. I’m a grown ass man. If I wanna use something to save money that I’m already gonna spend on you that’s what I’m gonna do. I don’t have to impress you 😂 tf.— Erick (@HawaiianLegend) March 14, 2018
If a dude used a groupon on a 1st date with me, I would be polite but I doubt that there would be a 2nd date. You gotta pay attention to all the signs. That nigga cheap sis— Nikeya Gray (@PurpleKeyConci) February 22, 2018
I the verdict is still out. Use a Groupon at your own risk.
