Police: 2 killed in crash while fleeing from ICE agents

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Two people were killed in a crash Tuesday morning while fleeing federal immigration agents in Delano, Calif., police said.

City police didn't identify the driver or passenger, though they said they were a male and female from Delano. The United Farm Workers told Eyewitness News that the two were a couple and are leaving behind six children.

Police said the pair crashed shortly before 7 a.m. on West Cecil Avenue as they were speeding away from Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents who had tried to pull them over.

The driver went onto the dirt shoulder, lost control and flipped the SUV.

Police are conducting the crash investigation but they referred further comment on the situation to ICE.

Eyewitness News reached out to ICE, which said they would release comment after looking into the matter further.
