WASHINGTON (Sinclair Broadcast Group) -- Amazon Alexa users are experiencing something unusual from their devices - laughter in a 'witch-like' way.
One user, who goes by @CaptHandlebar on Twitter, posted a video of Alexa "laughing randomly" while they were in the kitchen.
"I thought a kid was laughing behind me," the tweet stated before joking about technology. "Technology is evil. I live on a Native American burial ground. Robots are coming for us all."
Another Twitter user, @HeyItsKamo, says their Amazon Echo/Alexa listed off local cemeteries and funeral homes unprompted after they arrived home.
Replying bc THIS creepy thing happened last night: we got home and, totally unprompted, our Amazon Echo/Alexa started talking. And then i realized it was listing off local cemeteries and funeral homes??? I'd rather it laugh at me tbh— Kamo Boomin (@HeyItsKamo) March 7, 2018
These complaints from various users of the Amazon product have just been unearthed now. But users have been complaining about Alexa's weird behavior on Twitter since at least February.
Having an office conversation about pretty confidential stuff and Alexa just laughed. Anybody else ever have that?— David Woodland (@DavidSven) March 1, 2018
It didn't chime as if we had accidentally triggered her to wake. She simply just laughed. It was really creepy.
Lying in bed about to fall asleep when Alexa on my Amazon Echo Dot lets out a very loud and creepy laugh... there’s a good chance I get murdered tonight.— Gavin Hightower (@GavinHightower) February 26, 2018
Amazon has released a statement to The Verge saying, "we're aware of this and working to fix it."
