March 1st was National Pig Day, and one nursing and rehabilitation home just outside Albany, NY celebrated.
'Bacon Bits' and 'Albert EinSwine' visited the Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at Barnwell in Valatie. The pigs visit about once a month, but residents were extra excited today.
Residents said they love when all animals visit, but the pigs are unique and break up the monotony. They enjoy petting them, feeding them treats, and getting kisses!
“I think it's something different it's unexpected, you know some of the residents grew up on farms so this is a great time for them to reminisce and for other people that didn't they get to say 'I pet a pig today' and that's pretty cool and unique,” said Bridget Delcoure, the director of recreation at The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at Barnwell.
“The folks as you've been able to witness today get such a big joy out of them its so awesome to see all their smiling faces.” Terry Hutchinson, the pigs’ owner said.
Hutchinson and the pigs travel all over the Capital Region visiting nursing homes, schools, community events, and even the Albany International Airport.
