Austin, Texas 'device' explosion

Man killed after 'device' explodes at Texas home

AUSTIN, Texas (KEYE) - Emergency crews and law enforcement are at the scene of a deadly explosion at a home in northeast Austin.

According to Austin-Travis County EMS, it happened around 6:55 a.m. in the 1100 block of Haverford Drive, near Dessau and Howard Lane.

Austin Police Chief Brian Manley says the explosion was caused by "some kind of device."

EMS says a man was taken to St. David's Round Rock Medical Center, where he later died.

Postal inspectors and agents from the FBI and ATF are investigating alongside APD.

Manley said at this time, they have no reason to believe this in an act of terror or anything other than an isolated incident.
