CMT's new series "Music City" is the real life version of "Nashville"

We all know (or at least heard of) the musical drama TV series, Nashville. Who doesn't love a Connie Britton project? To keep it concise, the show tells the story of country music artists trying to make it in Nashville. For those who have not seen the show, while the drama has legs of its own, the music is what has my heart. So when CMT reached out about a new reality show they were premiering about a group of friends chasing their dreams in Nashville, I was a little skeptical to say the least. As a fan of the show Nashville, I didn't want my idea of the home of "the country's most famous stage" to change. What I can tell you is that if there was a real version of the scripted series Nashville, Music City is it.

Not only is the cast of Music City one of the best looking group of people I've ever seen in real life, they couldn't be more talented. Show creator, Adam DiVello, the creator of Laguna Beach and This Hills was looking for his next new project since wrapping The City in 2010. He was looking for something different and the idea of creating a real life version of Nashville was it. The show is a bit different from other reality shows in that it's really at the heart of country music. The cast, entering the next chapters of their lives (careers, relationships, families) are all on different journeys, but all intertwined by music.

I know what you're thinking, just another docu-series "reality tv" drama. You're right, it is, but what I found refreshing about this cast is that they are all genuinely friends and this show is completely organic and unscripted. There was no "casting" and certainly no re-dos when it came to performances. What you see is what it really was. Which honestly is a bit irritating because it just means they are all just that good looking and that talented, but after meeting the cast in person, I'm about 3 minutes from booking a flight to Nashville to go hang out with them again.

The show is great, these guys are awesome, and honestly, the original music in the show and the amount of talent they all have is inspiring.

Music City premieres tonight on CMT at 10pm. Check it out for yourself!
