'Clueless' actress Stacey Dash applies to run for Congress in Calif.

WASHINGTON (Sinclair Broadcast Group) - An actress known for playing a role in cult classic hit "Clueless" is running for Congress.

Stacey Dash, who has previously stated her intentions to someday run for president, filed in California's 44th district according to CNN.

The seat is currently held by Democrat Nanette Barragán and includes the Los Angeles-area neighborhoods of Compton and North Long Beach.

Dash - who in 2012 become known as an outspoken Republican - asked fans earlier this month on Twitter if she should run for political office.

CNN reports the district voted primarily for Hillary Clinton during the presidential election.

The actress has yet to comment on the filing.

She previously stated to Entertainment Tonight in June 2016, "I'm going to run for president one day."

"I had a dream about 15 years ago that I was siting on the lawn of the White House, having a picnic with my family. That's what I'm going for."
