Kevin Smith, the beloved indie director of films like "Clerks," "Mallrats" and "Dogma," suffered a near fatal heart attack this week after recording the first of two stand up specials.
Smith talked about the heart attack being known as a “widowmaker” — a 100% blockage of his LED artery. He talks about being lucky to be alive, but says that if he died that day, he would feel his life would have been a gift as it has been filled with incredible experiences and a loving family.
Discussing Kevin Smith’s near death experience are our Circa Pop Live hosts — Shira Lazar, Ryan Mitchell, and our special guest, Wesam Keesh, from “For the People”, premiering on March 13th on ABC.
Lazar talks about her experiences having Kevin Smith on her show, and talks about how his fandom and massive audience did not stop him from posting photos of him right from the hospital bed.
Mitchell talks about how coming down off the high of doing a stand up show to the sickness and pain of a near death experience of a hospital bed would change his life forever. Mitchell then ends with the observation that any moment could be our last.
Indeed, and we wish Kevin Smith a speedy recovery.
