DES MOINES, Iowa (KGAN) — The Iowa Supreme Court has denied requests for an appeal and a stay made by Chris Soules.

The state's highest court made its decision in a written ruling on Friday. A district judge denied a similar appeal earlier this month.

The 36-year-old former "The Bachelor" star is accused of leaving the scene of a fatal accident after driving his truck into a tractor on April 24. Kenneth Mosher, 66, died as a result after his tractor rolled into a ditch. Soules made the original 911 call but left the scene as first responders arrived. He was found and arrested at his home five hours later.

A trial date for Soules has been pushed back multiple times and has not been set, as appeals were pending. A judge ruled his trial is to start no later than May 7. Soules waived his right to a speedy trial within one year.

If convicted, Soules faces up to five years in prison. He has pleaded not guilty.
