Former Miami Dolphins offensive lineman Jonathan Martin was arrested Friday after posting a disturbing photo to his Instagram story that caused a California high school to shut down, according to ABC News.
In the Instagram story Martin posted a picture of a shotgun and shells on a bed with a message that said, “When you’re a bully victim and a coward, your options are suicide or revenge.”
The post comes a week after 17 students were killed at Florida’s Stoneman Douglas High School.
Martin, was involved in a 2013 NFL investigation into the Dolphins’ locker room culture, after claiming he was subjected to bullying and hazing from teammate offensive lineman Richie Incognito.
Harvard-Westlake, is an elite private school in Los Angeles and was closed Friday morning in response to the post.
“Last evening, we learned of an Internet post that mentions Harvard-Westlake by name. Out of an abundance of caution, and because the safety of our students, faculty, and staff is our top priority, we made the decision to close school today. We are working closely with law enforcement and will share more information when we are able.”said Harvard-Westlake High School in a statement on the decision to close school, according to the New Yorrk Post.
In a statement the Los Angeles Police Department said "The individual we believe responsible for the social media post in question has been detained and our investigation is ongoing."
