Yoga is a physical, mental, and spiritual discipline that is practiced for relaxation and for mental and physical health.
Yoga is also an amazing full-body workout, but how many calories are burned depends on the the intensity of which class you take.
Now Apple is trying to take the guess work out of counting yoga calories.
According to Verdict, Apple has taken out a patent with the US Patent & Trademark Office for a yoga calorie counting tool, "that will provide users with a more accurate estimate of the number of calories burned during a yoga workout."
There are no hard details released on the technology but it is assumed that the new tech would be available with the Apple Watch.
According to the patent, the new tech will have a heart rate sensor, and a temperature sensor and it will capture motion data in order to detect the yoga positions the user is performing.
Apple is jumping into the yoga market because, 37 million people in the U.S. partcipated in yoga in 2015. By 2020 that number is expected to grow to 55 million.
