Police say a man held a knife on a bikini barista early Tuesday morning and tried to rape her.
The man was apparently frightened when a car pulled into the stand and left, police said.
Police went to Hottie Shots Espresso in Kent, Wash. after getting reports of an assault and attempted rape.
The barista, a 30-year-old Bonney Lake resident, said a man walked up to the stand and ordered a drink. As she was making his drink, he climbed through the stand's window and held her at knife point.
Police say he forced her out of the stand and to a dark alley nearby.
He tried to sexually assault her but left when the car pulled up.
Police say the man may have fled in a dark sedan with black rims. That car was seen in the area just before the assault.
The barista was treated for scratches. She was upset but otherwise in good condition, police said.
“We've had a couple of robberies and I've actually been held up myself and that's terrifying in itself, but for the most part if you just give them some money, they go,” said another barista at the stand who asked that her name not be used. “This was a totally different thing. This was much scarier."
The attacker is a white man in his 30s. He is about 5 feet 5 inches tall. He has dark hair and light-colored facial hair. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and black pants. He was wearing a baseball cap with a black and brown bill.
Police say he appears to have an earring in his left ear and what looks like a Bluetooth device in his right ear.
“We want to get this guy picked up,” said Kent Police Det. Melanie Robinson. “He's obviously a coward who preys on young women and females who are working in situations just like this, and he's a coward because there's nobody else around to protect them but themselves."
