A man died after he fell down a cliff while trying to rescue his dog.
It happened at Thornton Beach in Daly City, Calif.
The National Park Service says the 67-year-old man was trying to rescue his stranded dog from an icy cliff when he fell nearly 500 feet.
Rescue teams were able to save the dog. The dog stayed near its owner's body on the beach.
The man's family is now looking after the dog.
The Park Service is warning people not to try and retrieve stranded animals by themselves.
