GOVT. CAMP, Ore. – Rescue crews are working to help a person that fell Tuesday morning while climbing on Mt. Hood in Oregon, Clackamas County emergency officials said.
Dispatchers received a “climber in distress" call just before 10:30 a.m. from a group that was climbing near the chute in the Hogsback area.
Initial reports said one person had fallen, however several others in the climbing party also need help from the rescue team.
Climbers at the scene have started first-aid efforts on the climber who had fallen.
The Oregon Army National Guard is sending a Blackhawk helicopter to help with the rescue effort. Mountain Wave Search & Rescue is also assisting.
