Typically, those who are fans of Beethoven's music aren't usually fans of Biggie Smalls. Well, a new musical group may have found a way to give both classical and hip-hop followers common ground.

Classically Dope is a group comprised of rapper Konshens the MC and a classical quintet from the University of Maryland.

Konshens, whose real name is Tarik Davis, says he reached out to the university after he came up with the idea. The school was eager to join forces to create an uncommon sound that has worked wonders for the group.

Since teaming up, Classically Dope have performed at big venues like the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. and have been featured on a number of platforms, including NPR's TinyDesk.

The group is hoping their unique sound can garner attention from both sides of the spectrum.
