After Harvey Weinstein got outed for sexual harassment, the light was finally shone on a lot of the horrors that women have to face in Hollywood. Many women have come forward about their abuses — some incredibly famous — and Reese Witherspoon joins their ranks.
Witherspoon discussed her abuse at the age of 16 at the hands of a director on a film she was working on. She says she fearful all the time — seeing it as a creature she sees in her life that she has to constantly work against.
It’s a beautiful moment of vulnerability and strength from her, and here to discuss it are Shira Lazar, Ryan Mitchell, and our guest — actress on “The Quad” on BET — Zoe Renee.
Lazar says that she admires Witherspoon and how she seems to be owning her life and understanding herself — even rising to the role of producer on her HBO show Big Little Lies and starting her own production company.
Renee discusses how hard it is to be a woman in the industry — finding the middle between being both vulnerable and not too impressionable, and Mitchell is grateful for the fact that the hurt other people feel can be discussed now.
Witherspoon, as Mitchell says, is owning her moment and we can’t wait for “A Wrinkle In Time.”
