This Chicago-area high school broke a Guinness World Record with 44 sets of twins

The teachers at a Chicago-area high school are seeing double.

New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois set two new Guinness World Records for the most twins and multiples in one grade. There are 44 sets of twins and a set of triplets in the sophomore class.

Nearly one out of every 10 kids in the sophomore class at New Trier High School is a multiple.

"For me, besides saying I'm just a twin for my fun fact, I can say 'Oh I've broken a world record," the Rothstein twins said.

There are three sets of identical twins.

Many of the same students were part of a similar record at their middle school five years ago.

"Having a twin is really confusing," Luke Novosel said with his brother Ryan. "Well, I get called Ryan a lot, for sure, which I think is the main problem. Other than that, it's not too bad."
