Delmonico's is a New York City landmark. Located in the Financial District it opened its doors in 1837 and became the country's first fine-dining restaurant forever transforming the American dining experience as we know it today. Known for its high-end beef and innovative creations, some of their original dishes remain on the menu today. For those of you who might not be "in the know," Delmonico's also offers off-menu items upon request from their Secret Billionaire's Menu.
First up is The Billionaire's Flatbread. Wagyu beef, Hudson Valley foie gras, lobster, mushrooms, black truffle shavings, mascarpone and topped with edible 24-carat gold-leaf shavings (of course).
Next we have the Wall Street Grilled Cheese. Between two slices of thick cut brioche you'll bite into L'Etivaz cheese, Scharfe Maxx cheese, Chef Billy's bacon -- cured in-house, 18 hour slow roasted, aged maple -- fig mustard, caramelized onions and black truffle shavings.
And lastly, for those of you with a billionaire's sweet tooth we have the Gold Moon Dessert Collection. A 24K twist on the NYC classic Black & White Cookie, Delmonico’s Black & Gold Half-Moon Cookies feature edible 24K gold leaf icing. Delmonico’s Billionaire Milkshake features chocolate ice cream, edible 24K gold leaf shavings, caramelized macadamia nuts, chocolate shavings, caramelized cherries and cookie crumbs.
PRICE: Cookies - $50/ea. / Milkshake - $35
As Executive Chef, Billy Oliva said, "Delmonico's is a restaurant of firsts." Older than the Brooklyn Bridge, Statue of Liberty and Central Park, Delmonico's is the first restaurant in the U.S. to ever actually be called a "restaurant," featuring a printed a la carte menu. They were the first to create American classics such as the Delmonico Steak, Eggs Benedict, Baked Alaska and Lobster Newburg and were even the first restaurant to admit female diners independently. It's safe to say they continue to surprise and impress their diners with their modern approach while keeping the rich culinary legacy alive.
Now that the Billionaire's Menu secret is out, what will they come up with next? A secret secret menu?
