WASHINGTON (WJLA) - Singer Pink may have the flu, but she's determined to still sing the national anthem at the Super Bowl this Sunday.

"Trying to practice the flu way. I've been waiting to sing this song since 1991 when I saw my idol, Whitney Houston, own this song," Pink wrote in part on Instagram Saturday.

She goes on to explain how singing the anthem is one of her "biggest honors in life," especially in front of her military family.

Pink skipped some of the words during the songs, relying on her backup singers Friday at Nomadic Live at the Armory in Minneapolis. But she was still energetic and spirited, ending the set with her signature high-flying athleticism while singing the pounding hit, "So What."

The mother of two told the audience she had the flu and that her children "cough into my mouth and I can't stop them 'cause they're so cute."
