Massachusetts State Police said they nicknamed an owl "Gronk" after it flew into the side of a cruiser and knocked itself unconscious.
State police said it happened Sunday night as a trooper was driving through Tolland, west of Springfield.
State police said Trooper Michael O'Neil Jr. picked up the owl and started driving to an animal hospital to have it checked out. The owl regained consciousness in the car, and the trooper pulled over.
"After a brief struggle in the cruiser, Trooper O’Neil gave the owl five concussion protocol tests, which it passed," state police said on Facebook. State police said the owl flew off, presumably back to its "home field."
New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski suffered a concussion in the AFC title game.
