WASHINGTON (ABC7) - SE Washington – D.C. Police confirms a Ballou High School student died yesterday after a reported assault on campus. The reported assault happened January 10th and resulted in a male student being stuck multiple times in the face and head.

A member of the student’s family, asking to remain anonymous, tells the ABC7 I-Team that the student was hospitalized with a blood clot in the head, and later suffered brain death this weekend. The family believes the student was assaulted by fellow students. That assertion is still under investigation according to the Metro Police Department report.

Metro Police is investigating this as a death, and not a homicide, at this time. They are awaiting word from the Medical Examiner about the cause of death.
