Mother says daughter called her before dying in Kentucky school shooting

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ky. (WKRC) - Bailey Holt, 15, was one of two high school students killed in Tuesday's mass shooting at Marshall County High School.

Bailey's mother told WKRN that when she learned of the shooting, she tried to call her daughter to make sure she was alright.

“We tried and tried to call her and she didn’t answer,” Secret Holt said. “It’s not like her not to answer or text back.”

Her mother says Bailey eventually called her back, but was unable to speak.

“She called me and all I could hear was voices, chaos in the background. She couldn’t say anything and I tried to call her name over and over and over and she never responded. We rushed to the high school, and they wouldn’t let us get through,” Secret said.

Preston Ryan Cope, 15, also died from his injuries in the shooting. Eighteen others were injured.

Attorneys say they are going to have the 15-year-old shooter tried as adult.
