ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. (WZTV) - Law enforcement officials are searching for two suspects who shot a Colorado deputy Wednesday night. The sheriff's office confirmed to media that the officer has died.
Deputy Heath Gumm was confirmed by police as the victim of this incident. Gumm is survived by his wife and family. He served as a sheriff since 2013.
According to FOX31 in Denver, one suspect is in custody while a search continues for two more people.
Officer down, please avoid the area of 88th and Dawson Street. Large perimeter with suspect still at large. Those of you in that area, please seek shelter away from the doors and windows.

A police spokesperson told FOX31 the "area is to be considered dangerous. Deputy was shot. Suspect armed, and if willing to shoot a cop, could shoot anyone.”

There was a large police response to reports of a shooting in that area. Neighbors called FOX31 to say they heard multiple gunshots and police officers were outside their homes with guns drawn.
