Police say a man was injured after he invaded a home with a knife and was stabbed by the women inside who were defending themselves.
Police responded to the report Tuesday after a strange man invaded a home in Yakima, Wash. while two girls and their grandmother were inside.
According to police reports, the 29-year-old man confronted the three victims upon entry. He then subdued the grandmother and the older granddaughter then started to assault the younger granddaughter.
Police said the grandmother and older sister fought the attacker and stabbed him in the chest.
The three victims then ran into a neighbor's house for safety while the invader ran, heading west through the neighborhood. Investigators said he had also tried to steal items from the home.
Patrol officers searched the area and found the man hiding in a backyard near the scene of the crime several hours after law enforcement responded.
Police said the man had a stab wound to his chest and law enforcement identified him as the suspect.
Yakima police arrested him for first degree burglary, first degree robbery, first degree assault and first degree rape.
