The smart home of the future will smell great. That's if new scent gadget Moodo catches on.
Developed by Israeli fragrance company Agan Aroma, Moodo is a self-branded "scent DJ" that mixes four aroma capsules at a time, as directed by the device's connected smartphone app.
The system gives suggestions on scent mixes (Cancún, Bali, Chai Sunset) based on the cartridges it's detected are plugged in, but you can also customize as you wish. The capsules are packed with aroma beads and are mixed with multi-speed fans. They're sold in family sets (Beach Party, Cozzzy, Fresh Vibrations, Oriental Delights, Ashram Spa, and The Gardens of Kanazawa), which include basic scents like orange, vanilla, floral, lavender, eucalyptus, etc.
One Moodo will fill a 600 square foot room, the company says. And capsules last about two months.
A key feature of Moodo is its Shuffle mode, which will automatically change the mix of the canisters installed in order to change scents throughout the day. The company says our senses get used to a smell after a short time, and manually lighting different flavors of incenses or candles can be a big bother, so Shuffle is an easy way to reinvigorate the fragrance of your dwelling.
Moodo is available now at the company's website for $189 (which includes three family packs of aroma capsules). Each family pack sells for $30 separately.
