It was no joking matter, when a man jumped on stage and attacked a comedian during his performance in a South Carolina comedy club.
The Richland County Sheriff's Department in South Carolina is currently investigating an assault case caught on camera at a comedy club.
In the viral video, a man from the audiencet threw a mic stand and stool at comedian Steve Brown during his performance on Sunday.
During his performance, comedian Steve Brown said he noticed the suspect, "staring into space" so he asked him if he was okay.
The man reportedly told the him, "don't f--- with me man" before breaking free from his family members, who were holding him back, and rushed onto the stage throwing several punches, a microphone stand and stool at Brown.
The video shows that a part of the microphone stand flying into the audience as the guy tried to hit Brown.
Brown and two others were injured as the bottom piece of the microphone stand hit them.
Brown eventually went to the hospital where he received treatment for a gash on his arm.
Following the incident, Brown took to Instagram to tell his followers that he was "good" but pointed out the comedy club needs to be called out for their "lack of security" at their clubs.
First off let me start by saying Thanks for the calls and messages from friends, fans and my family. With that being said, let me say this. This unprovoked attacked that happened to me tonight is a reminder of why these comedy clubs should have well equipped PROFESSIONAL security to protect us entertainers who bring their club so much money. I thank God for looking out for me and giving my old ass the ability to Bob and weave because this could have ended in horrible way.
According to authorities, a security guard was present at the club and followed the suspect after the attack; but no security could not be seen in the video while patrons attempted to help break up the fight.
No arrests have been made.
