NILES, INDIANA — There are new details on the investigation into the deaths of an Indiana father and adult daughter who died in the cold.
Albert Bivins, 81, and his 55-year-old daughter Patricia were found dead inside their home earlier this month -- and the temperature inside was well below freezing.
According to our newsgathering partners at the South Bend Tribune, it turns out that a week before their bodies were found, they went to a Niles agency seeking help in getting their furnace fixed.
The Ferry Street Resource Center couldn't help them and referred them to another agency.
It's unknown if the Bivinses further pursued getting help before they were found dead.
