Clinton Hall has three locations in New York City, and they're all featuring this gigantic sundae for the holidays. We were lucky enough to get to taste it.
It's called the "Apple of My IPA," and it's been flying out the door all season. The idea started with the executive chef of Clinton Hall, Darryl Harmon, who loves to get experimental with his menu. He sent the folks at Tipsy Scoop some of the beer garden's house-brewed IPA, called Clinton Hall IPA. Tipsy Scoop added some apples to it and made a delicious beer-infused ice cream.
Once Tipsy Scoop sent the ice cream back, it was smushed between three fluffy Belgian waffles: two plain and one red velvet. Then, it was topped with salted caramel sauce, holiday caramel corn, caramel apple taffy, whipped cream, candy apple rings and a whole candy apple.
In addition to this holiday specialty creation, Clinton Hall has three permanent "WTF Waffles" on its menu year-round: Red Velvet, S'Mores and Carnival. The latter actually comes with cotton candy, and they're all even crazier-looking than you're imagining. Clinton Hall absolutely does not skimp out on toppings, so make sure you bring your appetite.
Its waffles are intended for sharing, but they're so delicious that you might be tempted to eat one entirely by yourself. We don't even want to start thinking about how many calories that would be, though! And if you do end up finishing the whole thing, you're probably going to feel a little tipsy, thanks to the six generous scoops of boozy ice cream.
