Boxing champ Vinny Paz is being sought by police in an alleged early-morning attack

Boxing champ Vinny Paz (formerly Vincent Pazienza) is wanted by Providence, Rhode Island, police in an early Tuesday morning attack on two people, our affiliate WJAR reported.

Paz was portrayed by actor Miles Tiller in the 2016 film "Bleed for This."

Details obtained by the NBC 10 I-Team indicate Paz allegedly rushed into a Hawkins Street apartment at about midnight after banging loudly on the front door.

A woman inside the apartment told police that Paz accused a man there of robbing him and stealing $16,000, according to details obtained by the I-Team. The 34-year-old woman said Paz assaulted the man, who has lost consciousness at least three times since the alleged attack. That man, also 34, was taken to Rhode Island Hospital to be checked out. Another 27-year-old man witnessed the alleged assault, said the woman.

The woman called police and said Paz and his girlfriend fled in a black Jeep Cherokee with temporary tags. Maj. David Lapatain told the I-Team that Paz is wanted by police as a suspect for the alleged felony assault.
