Here's how the 'king of the high wire' is ringing in the holidays

New York City is magical during the holidays, and Big Apple Circus has been one of the reasons why for decades.

After going dark for several years, Big Apple Circus is back and celebrating its 40th anniversary.

Headliner Nik Wallenda, who is known as "the greatest daredevil of our generation," told Circa what it is like risking life and limb walking a wire high above people's heads.

Wallenda has also crossed the Grand Canyon on a wire.

The thrillseeker additionally counts Niagra Falls among his conquests.

Wallenda is the holder of ten Guinness World Records, and both him and his family are always looking to break more.

Wallenda has one goal in mind during every performance.

That aim is to covey to his audience that there is nothing they cannot accomplish should they set their mind to it.

Wallenda said initially all he wanted to do was impress his audiences but that's changed now. Now, he wants to inspire them.

The incredibly talented Wallenda family has been at the forefront of circus performers since the 1780s.

Wallenda told us he has been a circus performer for longer than he has been alive. While still in his mother's womb, he was walking high wires and dazzling audiences like he does now.

The Wallendas, as well as many more performers, are at Lincoln Center's Damrosch Park in New York City through January 7, 2018. They then begin a national tour.

Circa visited Big Apple Circus and had a great time hanging out with the talented cast.

There are a lot of opinions to be had this time of year, and it is okay to take them pretty seriously. Weigh in on these topics, and we're 100 percent certain that we can guess your age.
