We Are March On held a "Caroling for Impeachment" event Tuesday night. The group encouraged demonstrators to gather in front of the White House to sing unique Christmas songs about impeaching President Trump.
"Come join the growing chorus for impeaching and come caroling with the War on Christmas Carols Chorus as they and the Handmaid Coalition lead us in song and merriment to deliver sacks of Christmas cards to the White House, wishing Trump (and all of us) peace on earth (aka a mercifully shortened presidency)," the group said on its Facebook page.
Tuesday's protests came as the House and Senate raced to vote on the GOP's massive tax reform bill and send it to Trump's desk before Christmas.
The House on Tuesday first approved the measure along party-lines in a 227-203 vote, sending it to the Senate where it was approved in similar fashion 51-48 early Wednesday.
The lower chamber will have to consider the bill again Wednesday, however, as the Senate parliamentarian found that two provisions in the House-passed bill do not comply with budget rules Republicans are using to stop Democrats from filibustering.
Trump has long promised a dramatic revamp of America's tax code, and should the measure ultimately get approved it would lower the corporate tax rate from 35 percent to 21 percent.
Republicans have long argued reforming the tax code will inspire more economic growth, but Democrats have countered their latest attempt at doing so favors the wealthy over the middle-class and poor.
