The WWE announced that 26-year-old wrestler Richard Swann has been suspended indefinitely after he was arrested late Saturday night in Gainesville, Florida. Officials officials say he put his wife in a headlock and forced her back into their car, according to affiliate CBS 4.
Police charged him with simple domestic battery and false imprisonment. He was booked into the county jail shortly after midnight.
According to a recently released report, the incident occurred around 11:45 p.m. Saturday. It says Swann and his wife, Vannarah Riggs, who is also a pro wrestler, were arguing in their car about her performance in a show when she got scared and jumped out of the slow-moving vehicle. Witnesses said that Swann ran after her, grabbed her arm, put her in a headlock and shoved her back into the car.
One witness said that the victim was pounding on the car window while screaming for help as he drove away. A second witness said that Swann forgot to put the car in park, which allowed it to roll into a telephone pole while he was grabbing her. Riggs, known as Su Yung in the wrestling ring, told police that she feared Swann because he sometimes has a temper and was worried that their fight would escalate.
Swann, in the report, denied grabbing his wife and pushing her into the car. He said that she had the phone with GPS on it and he needed her to go with him.
The report detailed that Swann and Riggs have been together five years, but only married for nine months.
