Dating can be hard, especially when you don't know if the person you've been seeing is that into you. It can be even harder when your that person is intentionally sending you mixed signals. Yup, that's right. People are actually sending people they date mixed messages to keep them confused.
You may be wondering why would someone would want to do that? Well the answer is to keep the person they're seeing loosely entertained. It's called "breadcrumbing." Urban dictionary defines it as:
“The act of sending out flirtatious, but non-committal text messages (ie "breadcrumbs") to members of the opposite sex in order to lure a sexual partner without expending much effort.”

People who breadcrumb tend make up excuses for why they can't see you, like "I've been busy" or "I've been working long hours lately." But they always send a text messages to remind you if they're there. It tends to lead people on until the breadcrumber is done with them. And it can go on for a long time.

Breadcrumbing is usually associated with "ghosting" because it's somewhat of a disappearing act. But with breadcrumbing, the culprit tends to reappear from time to time.
