A teenager in Riverside, California has told police that he has molested over 50 children since he was 10, according to USA Today.

USA Today on Monday reported that Joseph Hayden Boston, 18, was being held on $1 million bail that day after making the admission.

Authorities on Monday said that Boston was arrested last Saturday on counts of oral copulation on a child under the age of 10.

“This is going to affect not only the victims for a long time, but also our detectives and officers involved in this,” Officer Ryan Railsback of the Riverside Police Department told KABC-TV Monday.

“To hear someone just be very open about what they’ve done, and they’re only 18 themselves,” he added.

The Riverside Police Department said in a statement last Saturday that Boston was staying at the Simply Home Inn and Suites when he molested two boys the night before.

“It was there when he befriended an 8-year-old and 4-year-old male victims, who were also staying at this motel with their parents,” the statement said.

“The children were allowed to into the suspect’s room last night when the molestation occurred,” it added. “Hours later, the suspect called his own mother stating what he had just done.”

“Officers interviewed the suspect and he confessed to sexually assaulting the two juvenile victims in his hotel room. He also admitted to molesting upwards of 50 children since he was 10-years-old in different cities where he had lived.”

Police noted that Boston had resided in Riverside since early last month, but he had also lived in the cities of Buena Park and Lakewood in southern California.

The County of Riverside Child Protective Services also responded to the incident over the weekend by taking custody of both victim children.

“Detectives believe Joseph Hayden Boston has victimized other children who have not yet come forward,” the Riverside Police Department said.

The department added that anyone with information about Boston or his potential victims were urged to contact them.
