Should Colin Kaepernick or the #MeToo movement be the Time Person of the Year?

Time’s Person of the Year — it’s a weighty crown that the magazine usually gives to the person who has caused the most cultural influence in the year. Time just released the semi finalists for this year and the list includes — Donald Trump, Colin Kaepernick, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, Robert Mueller, the #MeToo movement, Kim Jong Un, The Dreamers, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins. The hosts of Circa Pop Live — Shira Lazar, Ryan Mitchell and Circa Laughs’ own Richelle Meiss are here to discuss these people, and they agree — it should either go to Colin Kaepernick or the #MeToo movement. But which one!?

Ryan thinks it should go to Colin Kaepernick, whose kneeling during the National Anthem set the national conversation about protest, Black Lives Matter and the injustices caused by the police into the national spotlight. Shira thinks it should be the #MeToo movement — the movement that began to spotlight sexual harassment in our culture following the Harvey Weinstein scandal. Both are worthy winners, but which one do you think should be Time’s Person of the Year. Hmmm… Hmmm!
