After 51 days of searching for a suspect, Tampa Police detectives got a break in the case of four brutal killings in the Seminole Heights area.
Tampa PD's Chief Dugan announced 24-year-old Howell Donaldson III will be charged with four counts of first-degree murder, our affiliate WPEC reported.
The first victim was killed on October 9 on North 15th Street at the intersection of Frierson Avenue , according to Chief Dugan. That victim was later identified as 22-year-old Benjamin Mitchell, a college student at Hillsborough County Community College.
Police said the second victim was located nearby the first crime scene October 13, identified as Monica Hoffa, 32.
October 19 yielded a third victim, 20-year-old Anthony Naiboa, also found on 15th Street near Wilder Avenue.
Nearly a month had passed while officers continued the search for the killer, scouring the neighborhoods and asking the public to come forward with any information. Then, 60-year-old Robert Felton was found dead on North Nebraska Avenue.
All of the victims suffered from gunshot wounds.
Chief Dugan said in Tuesday evening's press conference that the department had received over 5,000 tips from people in the community. One person at a McDonald's in Ybor City, located a police officer and reported a man with a gun at the restaurant. Police located and took the man into questioning.
That tip lead to the arrest of Donaldson. Details on his arrest have yet to be released.
